Cement House

Sculpture (Cement and Cardboard)
Children typically depict their lives by starting to draw a house. To most of us, this house represents “home”. What makes a house a home is a family, and the core element that formed my particular family was the birth of a baby.
With that in mind, a house is just a block of cement without the family that breathes its life. In this piece, how a house originates from home, as a basic structure, and how a baby forms a family are highlighted. Cement is used in a sloppy manner to cover the house, indicating the soullessness of the framework house without tenants or a family, and how it gains life through its inhabitants.
